Zotac Unveils Gaming Backpack with Intel Tiger Lake and NVIDIA RTX A4500

Zotac has released the fourth generation VR GO 4.0 gaming backpack computer. It is equipped with an Intel Core i7-11800H Tiger Lake mobile processor and an NVIDIA RTX A4500 video accelerator.

This device is positioned as a gaming system for virtual reality. The NVIDIA RTX A4500 has 7168 CUDA cores and 20GB of GDDR6 memory.

The previous version of VR GO ran on a Core i7-9750H chip and had a GeForce RTX 2070 video accelerator.

The company notes that it did not opt for a gaming graphics card, since the RTX A4500 is much more powerful than any entry-level gaming accelerator. In particular, it has 1024 more CUDA cores than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti gaming model. At the same time, the accelerator consumes 200 watts of power, while the GeForce RTX 3080 has a declared power consumption of 350 watts. In the case of For VR GO 4.0, the power consumption level is very important for autonomy, since the backpack computer runs on battery power.

The novelty has 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, but if desired, you can install up to 32 GB of memory. It is also possible to install an M.2 NVMe solid-state drive and a 2.5-inch SSD or SATA III hard drive.

The device has several external connectors: USB 3.1 Type-A, USB 3.1 Type-C, two USB 3.0, two DisplayPort and one HDMI. The design also includes a pair of 3.5mm audio outputs and an SD memory card reader.

In standalone mode, Zotac VR GO 4.0 is powered by a dual 86.4 Wh battery with a quick-swappable battery.

Information about the timing of the release of VR GO 4.0 and its cost is not yet available. The previous version of such a computer cost about $2000.

First VR-focused PC backpack in 2016

Zotac introduced its first VR-focused PC backpack back in 2016. Since then, the company has gradually improved its design. However, this latest interpretation seems to focus solely on updating the CPU and GPU components.
