The Verge journalists report that in the next YouTube update there will be a feature that tells users the most interesting moments of the video. The company believes that this will help save time and skip the introductory parts of the videos.
It is expected that the new feature will appear in the web version of the site and in mobile applications. A graph with the most played parts of the video will appear above the video playback progress bar. Thus, when rewinding the video, users can immediately select the most interesting moment. The graph is formed on data about the behavior of other users.
The journalists emphasized that the function will be useful not only to viewers, but also to content creators. Bloggers will be able to analyze released videos and understand which parts viewers miss most often.
The new feature will be part of an update to YouTube in which the company will introduce tools for looping videos and playlists. Functions will become available in the web version of the site and in mobile applications. Users have already noticed that similar charts of popular moments already exist on other services with videos.
