OpenAI has opened access to a paid subscription version of the ChatGPT Plus chatbot for users in India. It includes the improved GPT-4 artificial intelligence model, which the company launched a few days ago.
The paid subscription gives users early access to new features. OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Plus in the U.S. last month for $20 a month. Users with a subscription are able to use ChatGPT during peak hours, get prompt responses and use new features and enhancements.
OpenAI also continues to offer a free version of the chatbot on its website, but that comes with some restrictions. If customers don't want to pay for access, they can use ChatGPT on Microsoft's Bing search engine.
With a paid subscription, OpenAI aims to monetize its solution, which has become extremely popular in recent months and has already gained mass appeal due to its ability to support conversations using AI technology.
During the use of ChatGPT, users have encountered a number of inconsistent and even false responses, which has led to a limitation in the functionality of the chatbot. However, the service continues to attract investors. Microsoft was one of the first sponsors of OpenAI technology and continues to integrate chatbot functionality into its services.
OpenAI's competitors, China's Baidu and the U.S. Google, have also introduced similar solutions called Ernie and BERT.
GPT-4, launched earlier, is capable of accepting text and images as input. The algorithm of the previous iteration of GPT-3.5 could only work with text. The new version performs at the "human level" in a number of professional and academic tests, OpenAI assures. GPT-4 scored 88% or better on the SAT Math, SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing, LSAT and Uniform Bar Exam.
