On May 9, the Meta Store, a store for goods for the metaverse, will open. The store will be located in one of the company’s buildings in Burlingame, California, where you can try out and purchase a Portal video calling tablet, Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses, as well as Oculus Quest and Quest 2 headsets.
All demonstration stands of the store will be interactive. Customers will be able to try on Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses in different colors and with different lenses; make a video call on Portal and try out various features such as Smart Camera and Story Time. In the demo section of Quest and Quest 2, you can test the headset on Beat Saber, GOLF+, Real VR Fishing or Supernatural games. As the head of the store, Martin Gilliard, explained, Meta Store will help people get used to technologies and products that will become the gateway to the metaverse.
The area of the store is relatively small - 139 m². The company also notes that it was important for management to open the first Meta Store near the headquarters of the Reality Labs division, where the development of the metaverse takes place.
Martin Gilliard, head of the store
“Ultimately, our goal with the Meta Store is to show people what is possible with our products today, as well as a glimpse into the future when the metaverse comes to life – and hopefully demystify that concept a bit in the process,” Martin Gilliard concluded.
