join () function in python

Syntax :

  string_name  .join (iterable)  string_name : It is the name of string in which joined elements of iterable will be stored. 

Parameters: The join () method accepts iterables that can return their members one at a time. Some examples: list, tuple, string, dictionary and set

Return value: the join () method returns a string concatenated with iterable elements .

Type error : If the iterator contains any non-string values, it raises a TypeError.

The following program illustrates how the join ( ):

# Python program to showcase
# use a join function to join a list
# elements with a symbol.

 

list1 = [ ’1 ’ , ’ 2’ , ’ 3’ , ’4’

 

s = "-"

 
# concatenates the list items with & # 39; - & # 39;
# and stores stingy

s = s.join (list1)

 
# join use to join the list
# lines in s delimiter

print (s)

Output:

 1-2-3-4 

Joining with an empty string.
