On June 29, 2022, the JetBrains blog published news about an upcoming price hike for subscriptions to their IDEs, .NET Tools, dotUltimate, and other tools on October 1, 2022.
The rise in price will be from 11.5% to 15%, depending on the product / set of products.
So, for example, PhpStorm, Goland, PyCharm will rise in price from €89 (€109.47 with VAT) to €99 (€121.77 with VAT) when paying for the first year. The license renewal price for the third year and beyond (maximum possible discount) will increase from €53 (€65.19 incl. VAT) to €59.00 (€72.57 incl. VAT).
A subscription to dotUltimate and Idea from €149 will rise to €169 (from €183.27 to €207.87 with VAT).
The company also announced an increase in the maximum possible term for a one-time license renewal. Now it is 3 years for a personal subscription and two years for a corporate one. This will allow you to pay for the license in advance at the current price.
JetBrains offer to subscribe now to avoid a price increase, but be aware that the subscription end date will also change. The company promises a discount for "unused" months from the last renewal.
For example, I renewed my PhpStorm license on May 10, 2022. If I subscribe for three years today, the new end date will be July 08, 2025, but the price for the "unused" period will be reduced.
Thus, with a regular price of €53, I will only pay the difference for three years, which will be 114.86 euros instead of 159.
This increase will be the first since JetBrains moved to a subscription model in 2015.
