The inner workings of Python

|

The Python interpreter performs the following tasks to execute a Python program:

  • Step 1 :
  • The interpreter is reading Python code or instruction. It then verifies that the statement is well formatted, that is, it checks the syntax of each line. If it encounters any error, it stops translation immediately and shows an error message.

  • Step 2: If there is no error, i.e. if the python command or code is well formatted , the interpreter translates them into an equivalent form in an intermediate language called Bytecode. Thus, after successful execution of the script or code, Python is completely bytecode.
  • Step 3: The bytecode is sent to the Python virtual machine (PVM). Here again the bytecode on the PVM is executed. If an error occurs during this execution, execution stops with an error message.
