Intel announced a reorganisation of its Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) graphics accelerator division. The department will be divided into two groups. The first will focus on gaming graphics accelerators, while the second will deal with technologies for data centres. The groups will join the other two divisions of the company. AXG executive vice president Raja Koduri will return to his role as Intel's chief graphics architect.

Raja Koduri joined Intel in 2017 after leaving AMD. At Intel, he served as Intel's Chief Graphics Architect, and in 2021, he led AXG's Graphics Accelerator Group.
Upon his return to Intel's role as chief graphics architect, Koduri will focus on high-end software development with an emphasis on integrating new graphics, processor and AI architectures.
AXG's consumer graphics accelerator business will be part of the Client Compute Group (CCG). CCG is responsible for the development of the company's consumer platform and processor technologies.
Another part of AXG's expertise in data centre graphics accelerators will join the Intel Datacenter and AI Group (DCAI), which is responsible for data center solutions and AI platforms.
Back in September 2022, the media were saying that the release of Intel's gaming graphics cards had been disrupted by the company's departure from Russia, although there had been problems before. In addition to problems with drivers, the existence of a single model on the market and weak hardware, sanctions made it impossible to pay salaries for the Russian division. It was too tightly integrated into the Intel structure for its closure to go unnoticed by the company's business. There were about 1,200 Intel employees in the country and the local office was one of the largest in Europe.
