In California, several Cruise robot taxis crowded in the middle of one of the streets for an overnight stop.

Reddit users said that at the end of June in San Francisco, several robot taxis of the GM Cruise service crowded right on the road of one of the streets for many hours at night.

The Cruise self-driving taxi has been operating in San Francisco since February 2022. Self-driving electric cars carry passengers who have booked through the app from 11 pm to 5 am local time. Taxis are only available in the main areas of the city, including Haight-Ashbury, Richmond, Chinatown and Pacific Heights.

For some unknown reason, the robotaxis system probably malfunctioned. First, two unmanned vehicles stopped on the street in the middle of the road. Then a few more drove up to them, creating a kind of robotizer. Technically, while waiting for an order, robot taxis themselves choose the place to stop. But this time, something went wrong - the cars decided to stop right on the roadway, did not respond to orders, if any, and interfered with the rest of the transport.

The taxis stood and waited for something for more than two hours with their headlights on and, judging by the photo, with activated brake systems, and not in parking mode.

Late at night, after complaints from local residents and the police, employees of the Cruise company arrived at the scene of the incident. They recorded an emergency situation, removed the blocking from the cars and took them away from the place where they stopped. The company did not name the reason for stopping and collecting several robot taxis at one place.

San Francisco residents have already appreciated the Cruise service. In the reviews, they wrote that they like the robot taxi, some even leave tips in the cup holder out of habit. One of the clients said that the robot taxi took him on a non-standard and long route, but in the end he also liked it.

In April of this year, during the start of testing the Cruise service in San Francisco, another incident occurred with a robot taxi. Also in the evening, the police tried to stop a driverless Chevy Bolt. As a result, the car slowed down and pressed against the side of the road in front of the intersection. The policeman approached the car and looked out the window, then he moved away from the door, and the robotic taxi sharply rushed forward, drove through the intersection and stopped further with the emergency lights on. The company explained that they sorted out this incident with the police, and the car acted according to the rules and, after the order to stop, began to fulfill it, but then decided to stop in a safer place.
