Google Corporation intends to slow down the recruitment of new employees in the second half of this year, CEO Sundar Pichai told staff.

Google hired a significant number of new employees at the beginning of this year and decided to slow down recruitment in the second half of the year, the head of the company said. He stated that Google will continue to support the main lines of business.
In the second half of 2022 and 2023, the corporation will focus on hiring engineers, technology specialists and filling other important positions.
Google hired about 10,000 employees between April and June this year, Pichai said, and has already agreed to exit most workers in the third quarter.
The uncertainty of the global economic outlook has become a key issue for Google and other companies, says the head of the corporation. Google was exposed to economic risks.
Companies need to be more entrepreneurial than in more favorable times, Pichai emphasizes. According to him, in some cases this means consolidation in those areas where there is a partial duplication of investments, as well as process optimization. In addition, the company will redistribute resources and suspend the development of some projects.
In March last year, Google quietly began to take out employees of the Moscow office who agreed to relocation, Bloomberg reported. In May, the WSJ edition wrote that some of the employees who were taken out were working in the company's office in Dubai. Some Google employees remained in the Russian Federation or left, but the company decided to stop its commercial presence in the country.
Google isn't the only company to cut new hires, as Uber, Spotify, Snap, Meta, and others have made similar decisions. While Twitter, Netflix and GameStop decided to cut some of the staff.
