Our Data, Informatics, and Analytical Solutions (DIAS) group is made of three portfolios that strengthen and harness digital and data ecosystems to accelerate development investments and outcomes: 1- Information Systems, 2- Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Analytics and 3- Digital Solutions and Transformation.
The Senior Associate, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will support the growth of Palladium’s data science team through implementation of GIS-based solutions. This person will help provide interdisciplinary GIS support on multiple projects across portfolios including health, economic growth, climate, social services, and others.
The position is based in Palladium’s Washington, DC office.

Reporting and Supervision:
This position will report to the Senior Technical Advisor for Data Science, Climate in the Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Analytics Portfolio
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support team members on project tasks related to GIS including database design and management, data processing, visualization, and analysis
- Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including models, surveys, satellite-based products, public domain data, and existing maps
Support report-writing teams with analyses as needed
Support business development opportunities including proposal writing activities and presentations
Effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
Key Competencies Required:
Experience conducting GIS analytics with data products related to and generated in developing countries
Proficiency in data visualization, data extraction, cleaning, and analysis
- Sound foundations in statistics and probability
Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, and Google Earth Engine required experience in ArcGIS API for Python is a plus
Experience in Geospatial database management, ArcGIS Pro Online, Esri Portal, open-source GIS software
Experience working with geospatial file formats including but not limited to TIFF, SHP, NetCDF, Raster, JSON
Experience working in Jupyter Environment with Python libraries for GIS and mapping
- Strong task management skills including planning how to complete activities and adhere to deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a dynamic and agile environment with changing requirements and priorities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members and clients of different cultures, gender, and hierarchical levels
Professional Expertise/Competencies Preferred:
Familiarity with international development sector
